Project 6 Final

  1. Rileigh! First off, let me say that I LOVE your final product! Your story is clear and concise, and your photos are very visually interesting and have great aesthetics. Alternating between your self-portraits, I assume, and the other subjects was a great decision. I'm going to go photo by photo, since each are very unique.
    1. The expression on the face is conveying really strong emotion. Your face is red and there is pain in your eyes. You definitely getting an idea for what the topic is here. Also, good focus on the eyes.
    2. This is where I for sure knew what was going on. The stereotypical "eat ice cream and watch romcoms" is definitely a sign of a breakup, especially a painful one. That reflects well with your first photo. My only critique here is that I wish more of the frame was in focus, mostly both the ice cream and the screen and not just the ice cream.
    3. Major "when will my husband return from war" vibes here. Again, good use of focus. I like the sad, dreary look of the outside through the window and the light is good on your face. I wish your framing of the face differed a little from your first photograph, as they're very similar.
    4. That looks like a pain to clean up. It seems strange to burn a letter inside, maybe outside would have been a better setting. I started reading a bit of the letter. The words seem really sweet towards the breakup compared to the anger behind the burning. Maybe that contrast was the point (growing resentment, no-more-mr-nice-guy type of thing), but I think some more angry or harsher words would be more appropriate. Also, the letter is just slightly off-center.
    5. A hood up, glasses, no makeup type of look is definitely reflective of a grieving period. A sort of off in the distance, zoned out look. The contrast between your face and the background is great, and the red of the hoodie stands out well.
    6. This is a nice, creative shot. Using the lipstick to cross out his face is smart. You do have shadows kind of going everywhere, which I don't like. I think this shot requires a more diffused light. The balance is nice for this.
    7. I love the message of this last shot---you're moving on. There's a strength and sass behind it. Putting on a harsh shade of red, a beautiful, classic lip color. Once again, the focus here is nice since it's on the lipstick and lips.

    Awesome job!!
